The present Problem of Obamacare

I think President Clinton is right. The promises made by Obama that people could keep their existing doctors and policies is imperative for Obamacare to succeed at all. Otherwise, the Republicans (and Democrats who want to be re-elected) will be forced to repeal Obamacare.

I live in California where a lot of people Support Obama as President. But, even here Obamacare is becoming a nightmare for people who are middle Class and don't qualify for deductions offered by the Government to poorer or older people. I just found out from my wife that even our family's insurance policy is being terminated and we will have to pay more for insurance as well to remain covered. But, we are fortunate enough to be able to afford that because I am already on Medicare which only costs me around $200 a month ongoing for the basic services.

However, I also heard about someone making $94,000 a year who has a wife and 2 children whose insurance is going to triple in price to 19,000 to 20,000 dollars a year in insurance premiums. However, at that rate he is actually better off to pay a fine rather than to pay his insurance. Because he cannot afford to pay the new policy he is being offered.

Note: It's actually worse than this. The rates tripled to $1900 a month so when I calculated the actual cost per year it would be $22,800.

This is a real problem for Obama even here in California because people like this actually vote whereas the very young (under 30) are so busy going to college and figuring their lives out that often they don't vote at all. So, imagine you support Obamacare because you see the good it potentially can do in civilizing our country so people with catastrophic illnesses don't just have to go bankrupt and die because of those illnesses or accidents. However, then you find your insurance policy not only cancelled but also tripled in rates. Then someone of your family, (while you are not insured) because you couldn't afford the new insurance rates has a catastrophic accident or illness. Now you are bankrupt and one of your family likely is dead without the insurance. It doesn't matter at this point whether or not you supported Obama or Obamacare or how idealistic you once were. Now, you are irate to the point of wanting revenge on the system.

Obama simply has to honor his previous commitments or Obamacare is going to die a very awkward death within the year. President Clinton is right.
