The Steamroller of Life

Most steamrollers now are not run with steam engines because most are diesel rollers now. But, have you ever seen the big thing with huge rollers one in front and one in back flattening the asphalt evenly to make roads safe, straight, flat and easy to drive on at high speeds without accidents?

Well, life is like that steamroller to all of us at times and we all need to learn to relax when life drives over us because whatever it is if we stay calm and relaxed and aware enough (we just might survive this too).

There are a few examples I would like to give of this sort of thing. In past centuries when sailing ships actually were wooden schooners that literally sailed around the world bell bottom pants were for a purpose. If you took the pants off when you were in the water and wet them and then filled the bells with air you could float like with a life preserver if you kept periodically wetting them and filling them with air when ocean conditions were good enough for that.

So, when ships would sink for any reason the men most likely to survive were all over 25 years old. Do you know why this is? Men over 25 have already had so many near death experiences that they don't tend to panic like younger men would in this situation as much. So, the older men think,"Well. I have already survived all these really awful things in my life, if I just remain calm and focused I just might survive this too." And sometimes they do survive and live long lives.

So, during adversities staying calm, relaxed but also focused often will lead to your survival.

When life runs you over often your first thought is: "I'm Dead!" But, your next thought has to be: "I might survive this if I just remain calm and focused and don't go into shock."

When life gives you lemons make lemonade or lemon pie.

Often even as you are going down, psychologically sometimes it is almost like thinking you are a basketball the harder you get thrown down sometimes you can use that bounce to bounce right back up again. Though this didn't work for me in my early twenties I mastered this by my 30s and 40s and 50s.

So, the same energy throwing you down often you can use for bouncing right back up again. Try it!
