He's all but certain to receive questions about recommendations to curb the National Security Agency's surveillance program that his intelligence review board unveiled earlier this week. Obama's also like to get quizzed about the administration's decision to allow people facing the cancellations of their insurance policies to be exempted from penalties if they bypass purchasing insurance next year.
The news conference also offers Obama an opportunity to trumpet the surprising news that the economy has grew by 4.1% in the third quarter of 2013, while reiterating his call to Congress to extend unemployment insurance for 1.3 million longtime jobless Americans set to lose their benefits at year's end.
