Decisions

We live or Die by our decisions every single day.

There is a story about two people looking for enlightenment. So, they climb high into the Himalayas looking for an Enlightened person living in a cave at high altitude there.

After a long time getting there they find him. They ask him, "What is the secret to enlightenment?"

His answer is easy, "Good decisions."

Then they ask, "How do we learn to make good decisions?"

His answer, "Bad decisions."

All of us learn this hopefully in our lives. That literally every decision we make can lead to our deaths or to our lives.

So, it is in learning to make these good decisions sometimes through one or more bad decisions that we move through our lives.

There is that funny commercial where two teenage girls are listening to music while walking down a street and dancing to the music and not looking where they are going. They step in front of a bus together while dancing and the bus hits them. Fun to listen to music and dance but wrong place and time and they are dead.

One day when I was a young man I decided that if God didn't appear to me that I was going to kill myself within the week. So, I said to God, "If you don't show yourself to me I'm going to kill myself!"

So, God showed himself to me. I was somewhere like the Orion Nebula and God appeared to me and said to me, "You're just too serious. You are taking life much to seriously. There are only really two sins in life. One is taking life too seriously and the other is not taking life serious enough."

When I came back to my body I shook for a long time because meeting God was just so overwhelming on all levels to me. However, I understood what God was telling me, and that life was a serious game. It was a game we play with God and each other and it is serious because if we don't take it seriously enough, we die. And if we take it too seriously, we die.

And this is the razor's edge we hear about all the time.

So, life should be fun but not so fun we get hit by a bus while dancing to music we are listening to with earphones on.

If we learn to make good decisions we live, and if we don't often we die (unless we have someone taking care of us).
