Jeffrey Toobin is often on CNN regarding legal issues since he used to be a prosecuting attorney. Today he was interviewed on PBS and told the people that "There is no way Officer Wilson could have been successfully prosecuted and convicted of anything under present Missouri Law."
He also said that though people might have felt better or different if Officer Wilson had been prosecuted, that is not a good reason to have tried him for murder, or 2nd degree murder or manslaughter. He said that all people need equal treatment under the law and no prosecutor should bring up a case before the judge that he doesn't think he can win so equality under the law actually exists nationwide.
So, even though this is very unsatisfying to many different people this is the law of the land or specifically the laws of the state of Missouri at this point.
So, only by changing the laws (or procedures by which potential criminals are treated or picked up) will this all change in any useful way for anyone.
So, at this point all states need to think about this, especially all policemen and firemen and others and all groups of unions etc. to better protect both the public and their officers and firemen and others from both legal and bodily harm from the legal system or from the public becoming too irate over something like this nationwide or worldwide.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
