Wilderness Party

A friend of my wife's from the old days before we met when she lived downtown in San Francisco has a Wilderness Party once a year where he takes great pictures of wilderness trips and invites all his friends from around the North State of California to come party with him as he shows his best pictures with narrative and music in the back ground. He has done this once a year now for some time but my wife and I were unable to attend for several years for one reason or another. But, because we business up here closer into the city we already had a hotel room closer to where he lives. The Greater San Francisco Bay area is a large one and one can live 2 to 2 1/2 hours away or more and still be a distant part of this community in all directions. It's sort of like Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties where almost everyone is connected (if they are willing to drive 2 or 3 hours (when there isn't too much traffic to stay in contact. So, most people stay in contact most of the year by Emails and telephones and text messages and once or twice a year they all get together to visit together again.

I think it is like this around most of the metropolitan areas around the U.S. where people become friends in High School or college and try to stay together through careers, marriages, starting businesses and having children throughout their lives.
