Boat or Seaplane: There aren't many roads in Alaska

If you have ever looked closely at a map of Alaska there are no roads in most of the state and since the state is much bigger than Texas and only about 663,000 people, you can sort of see why by the lack of roads there. Since most roads would be under snow at least 6 months of the year this makes sense. So, instead of a car or truck being the most useful vehicles in Alaska, instead seaplanes, ski planes, and boats are the best transportation followed by snowmobiles and dog sleds during the time of year when snow is everywhere. So, unless you are prepared for all this and the cold and Grizzly bears this might not be the place to be for you either except as a tourist.

Oil, Fishing and Hunting and Tourism is what mostly sustains people in Alaska and of course gold mining.
