I think this is an important point to think about. It is not okay with the U.S. that they are killing CIA backed rebels against Assad. However, we now are in Cold War etiquette territory which means "Syria and Iran have belonged to Russia since around the 1980s or before.
So, since the U.S. doesn't want to have our soldiers killed by ISIS and even Iran doesn't want to tell the Iranian people that they are there or that they are killing ISIS now in Syria, they are doing what the U.S. is grateful not to have to do (send our soldiers to battle on the ground with ISIS).
They are taking responsibility for what they have created in regard to ISIS (for which the world should be grateful).
However, they are not allowing the Majority Sunni in Syria to rule with majority rule and instead killing and repressing them with bombs and bombardments and driving whatever civilians and their families are left alive and Sunni in Syria to go to Turkey, Lebanon or Jordan or to cross into Lesbos and maybe drown while trying to get into Europe.
So, even if Iran and Russia eventually wipe out ISIS from Syria completely, there is now a danger of 10 times as many ISIS converts coming from the 1.2 billion Sunnis worldwide really pissed at Iran and Assad and Russia because of the lack of justice for Sunnis.
So, even if Iran and Russia completely wiped every ISIS person off the face of the map and all their victims too until there is justice for Sunnis (and for Shiites too) this won't be over by a long shot.
I personally am very grateful that the U.S. is staying out of this soldier wise at this point because Iran has already lost 3 Generals likely since the spring to ISIS and countless soldiers too as the death notices are coming into Iran faster and faster now from the battles raging in Syria and possibly parts of Iraq too.
