This is why Russia often emphasizes order over human rights and also why traditionally Russians have always been (from at least World War II on) the most brutal large army on earth in regard to tactics. Because they stopped the Mongols, Napoleon, Hitler and now are stopping the Islamic State.
(About 20 million Russians starved to death and died in battle stopping Hitler by the way which I think is more than any other nations losses in World War II. The U.S. was about 900,000 deaths.
But, this is also why Russians and the Iranians are the best for getting rid of ISIS (if that is their end game).
The problem with this is that ISIS is not a cause in itself but instead a reaction to what Assad, Russia and Iran did to peacefully protesting Sunnis who wanted more rights. So, instead of rights they killed and tortured Sunni women and children and ISIS is a direct reaction to this in Syria.
So, by killing ISIS we are killing the effect of harm done to Sunnis but we are not addressing what "CAUSED" ISIS. So that, it is likely to be something worse than ISIS that comes next because of human nature and the lack of Justice for Sunnis in Syria.
So, even though we all need to be grateful to Russia and Iran (IF) they actually get rid of ISIS in Syria, we all need to realize this isn't the end of it but something even worse that likely will come next because the original grievances have not been addressed regarding Sunni Rights in Syria.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
