Enlightenment is different things to different people depending upon what they believe they are and the universe is to begin with. And, of course the longer you live the more amazing the universe tends to become to a person if they have the right attitude about everything.
So, there is a saying from an old Frank Sinatra song, "And you can survive to 105 if you're young at heart".
And to me this is part of the essence of Enlightenment right there. Because to live a long time (and to be glad you are still alive) you need "Wonder". Without wonder and interesting changes in your life why live?
To live only because you are afraid of dying isn't living. That is just being already dead while appearing to be living. No.
Actually living is always a joy. When you are really alive there is joy in your life. There is a reason you are living. For your family. For your friends. For your country. For mankind.
Without something that brings you joy why be alive at all?
So, for me, enlightenment is a search for perfect joy and bliss in your life and for perfect bliss and joy for everyone. In this search there is infinite joy.
Because I believe it is possible to live here on earth in Heaven. I have experienced it many times and to some degree I am experiencing it right now as well. Pain is no obstacle to enlightenment and joy. One can experience pain while being in ecstasy. Just ask any saint.
So, heaven is in your mind's eye all the time. Just create your heaven right here on earth and it will naturally follow that you take it with you into heaven when you lay down your body.
But, you have to take responsibility for creating heaven within yourselves and outside of yourselves if possible too first.
And this is enlightenment for me. Helping create heaven inside and outside of myself and helping others do this too.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
