It's raining like crazy now but the 20 to 30 mph winds haven't started yet with 45 mph gusts:SF Bay area

The rain on the skylight above my wife and my bed was so loud it woke me up about 5 am this morning. I looked out and it was coming down gangbusters. The weather man says expect 20 to 30 mph winds with 45 mph gusts later this morning so I moved the lawn furniture off the deck and into the yard on the grass so it wouldn't blow against the French sliding doors and break glass or something like this. In the Sierras we are supposed to get 1 to 4 feet of new snow so after this storm I might head up to go ski eventually. But, the storm likely will continue through Saturday at least.

Further south, in Santa Barbara people are beginning to evacuate because this is the biggest storm so far this season and it could get dangerous in Montecito again with water and mudslides with a storm this big. The MT. Shasta Weather report says snow through Saturday potentially but my friend who lives there says most of the big stuff will come down tonight and yesterday already. but, they expect 1 to 3 feet in town of snow so this also might close Interstate 5 because of low temperatures overnight there. This is as of 5 am for Mt. Shasta California, it is snowing there right now. The cloud cover must be keeping the temperature only at freezing right now and not dropping lower. So, if you are heading north on Interstate 5 past Mt. Shasta you should call caltrans to see if Interstate 5 is open.
