However, it WAS only 40 billion tons of ice being lost in 1975
This is a 6.3 times increase in ice loss since 1975 per year. This isn't the total this is per year now.
And likely this will continue to increase year by year which is why oceans are rising so much now worldwide and encroaching upon cities like Miami which is slowly being swallowed up by the Atlantic Ocean now every year. And when hurricanes happen there it is even worse than the winter high tides.
