in the 20th Century and before.
I think saying things will be worse isn't really as useful as some people would want it to be.
We all have a choice as to what the future will be.
However, the number of people on earth changes all this future daily as more people are born here on earth.
For every new human born at least 1000 other species offspring will have to die. I think that's a fair assessment. So, for each new human 1000 or more species offspring will be dying per day in order to accommodate this new human being.
Seeing it in this context might be useful.
But, since Time travel has existed since before Earth was created no species will go permanently extinct either. For example, even dinosaurs aren't extinct in the sense that they could theoretically be retrieved and brought to this time. But, then the T Rex might eat everyone around if we did that.
So, any animal or species that has existed could exist also in any future time.
But, in the meantime everything will be different than it was in the 20th century when I grew up.
That is a true statement.
However, what the future actually becomes is up to each of us to create.
