Coping with the June Glooms

People where I live on the northern California coast near San Francisco are used to the "June Glooms" of high and low fog this time of year. Unfortunately, Global warming is extending this further and further south so even Santa Barbara is becoming more a place of the June Glooms just with 5 or 10 degree warmer weather than where I live the high is 67 today so it is getting a little warmer than the 60 degree highs we were having until about a week or less ago and several hundred miles south of us is Santa Barbara whose high temperature is also within a degree of us today at 68 (even though it is usually 5 to 10 degrees warmer there during the summers compared to where I live on the northern California coast within 1 mile of the ocean. Many people I know of walk to the beach once in a while or even every day for exercise from near where I live because there are beautiful beaches that close to us (but also usually a lot of tourists from around the world in tourist buses too because of how beautiful it is where I live and it is famous worldwide because of that beauty).

So, that is interesting too. My wife was speaking to me about selling our home today and I have very mixed feelings about that because this has been home to my 3 biological children as well as step children of my wife and I too. So, even though I really dislike the foggy cold summer I also love the beautiful spring and fall, and winter is fairly mild to with temperature lows only most of the time in the 40s and 50s and winter is just a little bit colder than June here where I live on the northern California coast. So, the highs on average are 50s and 60 in the winter and 60s and 70s in the summer and the the lows even in the winter seldom go below about 40 and maybe one or two days in the 30s because we are right on the ocean. However, 10 or 20 miles inland they can see 20s some nights during the winters. However, we often never even see freezing once during the winter times.

So, many affluent people like the 40 to 80 degree range and the  June Glooms don't bother them as much as me. But, I grew up in Southern California where summers are a time to get out and play on the beaches and mountains and deserts year around in the warm sun often. Where I grew up you could have 360 days of sun or partly cloudy weather above 60 degrees and never see freezing even once and maybe 4 or 5 days of rain when I lived in Los Angeles County growing up. So, I guess I'm sort of spoiled with good warm or hot weather year around where I grew up.

However, my youngest daughter loves the fog and cloudy weather and rain so she is happy living in Portland Oregon where 6 months a year it is usually either cloudy or rainy which is hard for me to take which is why I don't live there. But, April to October I like the weather in Portland.
