My experience then was bringing home something that looked a lot like a cute guinea pig sized puppy with really big ears because that is what they kind of look like as little puppies. They are very cute but smaller than most full size dog puppies even though they have a big dog personality because they are a dwarf version of a big dog. These are what corgi puppies look like when you first get them at about 8 weeks or so. She was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She lived with us until well after our Daughter went away to college first in 2014 but was gone by 2018 along with her friend our Yellow Lab who was an elder dog too.
The first two years were difficult before I really was happy with this corgi puppy. She became over time very very dear to all of us and took charge of any male dogs around like a real Bitch dog by biting them on the lip and making them do things. But, she was very protective of our daughter and a really amazing lap dog and she loved walking in the country or at the beach (as long as she stayed out of the water). This was partly my fault because as a puppy she demanded to run into the waves for a long time but I wouldn't let her until I felt she was old enough to see what a wave would do to someone as low slung as a corgi. I didn't let her drown but I did let her be thrown upside down in a wave so she would learn what California waves can do. After that she was scared of the ocean and would never go into the water again (which likely saved her life more than once regarding rogue waves at the beach here where I live year around near San Francisco. Because many people die each year from rogue waves and I even get surprised by one at least once a year now so I have to be mroe careful now I'm 71 because I'm not as fast as I used to be in running from rogue waves that unexpectedly go much further than average waves when you least expect them during a storm.
Many tourists don't survive rogue waves every year in California because they don't have enough experience with the Pacific Ocean in California. Like I said almost once a year I have almost been swept out to sea myself the last couple of years when I least expected it. You cannot take your eye of the pacific ocean any time of year if you want to be safe when you are near the ocean. But, I guess you have to know what to look for too to survive it.
After the puppies there is a set of grown up Pembroke Corgis but they are to the far right.
