The nice thing about a candle camping lantern is that you can take it outside in winds usually up to about 20 or 30 miles per hour (or more) without it blowing out usually but not always. So, it's good if you are in a wind to have a back up head lamp or flash light if your candle lantern blows out when you get out of your tent to take care of something whatever it is. Hanging a candle lantern in your tent is also great as long as it is far enough away from any part of your tent so it doesn't melt that part of your tent or catch it on fire. But, a candle lantern is always safer in many ways than an open flame candle this is true, especially inside your tent.
