It means that other people likely would have died many times already but because God wanted you alive for God's purposes you are still alive and grateful to be alive because you know God Loves you.
This is what it means.
So, you see all the near death experiences as God showing you that he loves you and training you to be helpful to all his creations by these near death experiences throughout your lives.
By God's Grace
So, rather than making you fearful all these experiences tend to just make you more efficient and kind and wiser in all your actions.
because, after all, anything that doesn't kill you tends to make you stronger and more efficient at being alive in the future.
If you were not a spiritual person you might just call this "Being Lucky".
But, in my experience luck doesn't exist but Grace does!
Grace Brings Gratitude and Gratitude to God brings more Grace in an exponential way always!
Grace brings Gratitude which brings kindness which brings even more grace in one's life.
