Write your Own Creation Story. Why?

Because every religion and tribe on earth has their own creation story. So, why shouldn't you and your family have your own creation story too?

I had a friend who got a degree in History and then a master's degree in History specializing in Buddhism and Sanskrit at UCLA during the late 1960s and early 1970s. And we were both very much into studying about philosophy and religions at that time and still. And one of the many things that occurred to us at the time and since is that all religions and philosophies share many aspects in their stories of creation. One of the things you get from religions is that these tribes and nations were trying to keep their people alive. So, they did things like in desert cultures make it bad to eat things like pork which is what you see in the Hebrew religion, Judaism and you also find this in Islam. When you cannot refrigerate pork you might die if you eat it. Whereas in other colder cultures with more water revere pork because it has enough fat in it to keep you alive when it is really really cold at night in many places in the world. But, you also need water and wood to cook it with to keep safe with pork too even then.

So, you see this thing locally all over the world that so much of religions are about trying to keep people healthy and safe and sane and orderly in many different ways. For example, in Hinduism it appears that arranged marriage was the custom mostly to keep order in the wealthier people in Hinduism and Brahmanism going way back. Even now, as an older adult I can see the wisdom of arranged marriage, especially because I had to marry 3 times to finally get it right in my 3rd marriage and my older children had to suffer through these divorces. So, I can finally see the wisdom of arranged marriages because of my own suffering and the suffering of my older children in not getting it right the first time or the 2nd time.

But, the problem becomes: "You don't know what you know until you know it." and another saying which is true is: "Youth is wasted on the young." Both of which I see now every day of my life.

So, from all this I say to you honestly, "Why don't you write your own creation stories to define your own lives and the lives of your family better?"

Because many of these older creation stories might not be relevant to your lives here in almost 2020 AD.

At least if you are writing all this down for posterity maybe one day your family can either salute the flag of your creation story or not. In the end it's a free choice of everyone as to what they choose to believe.

By God's Grace
