Drove to SF Bay Area from Santa Barbara today

Got away from Santa Barbara just after noon when the Gardener arrived. My daughter and her husband and I talked to the gardener and then I left. They made me sandwiches so I wouldn't have to go inside anywhere along the way back and took a plastic bottle to relieve myself because I didn't want to go inside anywhere to the bathrooms either. So, I only stopped once in Buellton for Gas and that's pretty much it. But, my truck has an oversize gas tank too and it usually gets at least 20 miles per gallon because it has a 6 speed transmission and is also a 2 range 4 wheel drive. So, the overdrive (when I'm driving alone and mostly unloaded is a good thing) It's a small 8 cylinder 2011 Tundra  4WD with a long bed which has probably the best ride of any truck I have ever been in in my life. In other words (you don't have kidney problems from a rough ride like many trucks have). So, basically it rides like a Cadillac or Lexus SUV which my wife and I really love for traveling long distance to places like Mt. Shasta or Portland, Oregon. And also wind doesn't bother it either compared to smaller cars.

It was a beautiful day in the lower 70s in Santa Barbara and after I went inland on 101 towards Buellton, California the temperature quickly climbed to around 84 to 87 degrees all the way up to San Miguel and Paso Robles. So, it was in the 70s whenever on the ocean and 84 to 87 inland after we got to Buellton or to Atascadero, California.

The hills are more brown than 10 days ago but on the flatter areas it was still green. So, I give us about 1 month before the first wild oats fires start around highways and country roads blown by the winds.

So, so far at least it's okay regarding fires at least for a month or two. Also, I noticed rivers still have a lot of rain in them which is really good for the state too (at least along the coast). So, hopefully the fires won't be that bad this year. But, this will depend upon many factors.

IT was a very pleasant drive except for when the highway was one lane because of road repairs various places along the way. My wife was really glad to see me because I have been gone now about 10 days.  But, adapting to the Coronavirus changes has been difficult for her whereas I tend to actually do better in a crisis because I come from pioneer stock. I'm less bored when things are serious to deal with so I usually perk up in a crisis and am always my best in a crisis.

By God's Grace
