* WHAT...An extended duration of excessively hot daytime
temperatures with limited overnight relief. Near record to
record temperatures are expected during the peak of the heat.
* WHERE...Entire San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast
regions, excluding the Sonoma coastline and San Mateo Pacific
coastline.
* WHEN...From 11AM Monday morning through 7PM Thursday evening.
Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be the hottest days.
* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase the
potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for
vulnerable populations or those working outdoors during the
day. Additional societal impacts due to the movement of people
seeking relief from the heat from hotter areas inland.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Widespread 90s to low 100s daytime
temperatures are expected for inland areas on the hottest days
of Tuesday and Wednesday. The San Francisco Bay shoreline and
Santa Cruz coast could rise to the upper 80s to low 90s during
these hottest days. For San Francisco itself, the
Downtown/Bayside could rise to the low to mid 80s while the
Pacific coastal side will peak in the mid 70s. Other coastal
areas should remain relatively cooler than surrounding inland areas should remain relatively cooler than surrounding inland
