The previous article reminds me of India in 1985 and 1986

Since public compulsory education didn't exist really in India during this time it wasn't unusual to see children working at anything from breaking rocks with a hammer for a road without eye protection or for kids to be driving three wheeled taxis. I remember one time we were riding in a three wheeled taxi and I thought an adult was driving but it was raining and so the canvas was protecting us from the rain but also protecting us from seeing the driver as well. So, when I looked a 9 year old was driving us in this 3 wheeled taxi and I was pretty surprised. But, because we didn't know exactly where we were and he had been told where to take us I saw no useful alternative to letting him drive the 5 or 6 of us to our destination then.

So, children doing adult jobs in many countries of the world still happens even here in the U.S. when they are working for their parents or (helping their parents) whether they get paid for it or not.
