America is now faring worse than Italy was at the peak of the crisis there

I'm presently looking at a graph that shows this that Italy peaked out on March 21st at 100 cases per million residents. We here in the U.S. have now surpassed that rate. This is from Fahreed Zacharia GPS on CNN Sunday June 28th 2020.

Why is this true?

I think the problem with America is mostly political as in Trump. If you believe in Trump you might be dying of coronavirus right now because you are in denial of it. But, the problem iis much deeper than this. Younger people in the U.S. have become very spoiled since the 1950s here and not prone to self sacrifice. So, by coddling younger people we have made them carriers for coronavirus because they mostly aren't dying of it and they might not care (especially between 18 and 25) whether their elders get it and die as long as they are happy. But, this is only a part of the problem.

Because younger people are not caring here in the U.S. especially in the south of the U.S. this then jeapordizes all groups especially black and hispanic and native americans who are dying at 4 to 5 times the rate of white people for a variety of reasons.

But, the real spreaders are the young people who likely have parents who believe in Trump. And all the rest are victims of this spread.

It is about being political rather than being responsible for those around us that so many are dying here.

However, there is another side to this too.

When was the last time a war came all the way into the lower 48 states?

The last war that came into the U.S. actually was in 1860 to 1865 and even then it didn't go west of the Mississippi river that much even then.

So, we have the western United States where full on war has never come to besides few skirmishes with native Americans along the way. This has made people very spoiled since the turn of the 20th century and the 1900s until now.

So, this spoiledness is about being undisciplined in the face of real problems. And millions will now die from now on because of this (at least until a vaccine is created).

So, for 155 years pretty much we have been spoiled here in the U.S. and haven't had to deal with wars. That is a whole lot of spoiled behavior and now we are paying dearly for it and likely will continue to for at least the next 10 years unless coronavirus is always with us like Flu tends to be ongoing for hundreds of years now.
