Camping was a part of my family life growing up

So, even though I was never sent to a Summer Camp as such I camped all the time with my parents around California and when I was older in Oregon, Nevada, Washington and Idaho.

One memorable summer when I was about 14 years old we rented a Shasta Camper which likely was about a 15 to 20 foot Trailer we pulled behind our big new 1960 Mercury Station wagon at the time and camped along the Walker River in California and up through Oregon and Washington and stayed camped at my father's father's place while he was still alive on 2 1/2 acres in Lake Forest Park near Seattle  then. Then we also went to Idaho and Wyoming and Teton National Park where my father and I rented horses and went deep into the Teton Wilderness area which was a very bonding experience for me and my father. This would have to have been 1962 when I was 14 years old.

These bonding experiences in the wilderness with my father and mother and friends and relatives made the wilderness my life long church worldwide and a place to contemplate my life and relationship with God and everyone and everything else ongoing in my life.

By God's Grace
