I was noticing this when I bought a portable air conditioner to take to Mt. Shasta for a Cabin I was renting for the month of August. In order to make the air conditioner work you need to vent the heat out your window. So, if I stood outside of the screen that I was blowing the hot air through it was likely around 90 to 100 degrees at least blowing out the window. However, inside it was keeping the cabin between 68 and 76 degrees during the day and evening. But, that heat has to go somewhere that you are venting from your air conditioner which could heat up to some degree the outside air where you live.
On the other hand the hotter air goes up and heats up upper parts of the atmosphere too. It's hard to say what billions of air conditioners are doing over the years worldwide to heat up the atmosphere outside during the summers.
