In the Woods

I was walking my dog in the hills near where I live on the coast where there are pine trees and oak trees and ferns and redwood trees and I found myself tearing up in my eyes. I thought about how healthy this was. I was raised in the 1950s where we were taught to "Go down with the ship" sort of like the Captain of the Titanic did still so we could always put a brave face on for our family even when things were not okay.

Well. For about a year now things in the world have not been okay and every so often my wife loses it a little and I have to be brave for her. This is happening all around the world. Sometimes I have to be strong for my children and friends too but mostly since my wife is an extrovert with 3 college degrees including a master's in Business she is more articulate and social like many women are more than men and people reach out to her as the "Mother of the Tribe" so to speak. My job is to be the Patriarch because basically everyone older than me except for my cousins is dead now. So, I'm the patriarch. So, if you have never been the patriarch or matriarch of your family that is a lot of weight to carry sometimes.

I was really grateful today to have watched "News of the World" which is done in a very accurate way of Texas in 1870 just after the civil war. People are still "Raw" from this experience and often you can see it in the plot of the movie.

So, it gave me permission somehow because the times are similar in some ways to now to let some tears go and this I found very healing for me personally in a very cathartic way. So, I was really grateful for this amazing movie to help heal the weight we all carry around the U.S. and around the world right now.

By God's Grace

Note: In a strange way this movie is very healing for our nation much like "Forrest Gump" was for our nation after the Viet Nam War and it brought everyone together like they hadn't been before "Forrest Gump" was made.
