This likely was because Trump had planned it this way and tried to prevent Pence and Pelosi from surviving this insurrection. However, he failed in getting Pence and Pelosi killed and now likely will have to run away from the U.S. to avoid serious prosecution for felonies and infinite civil suits from all this. I don't see how Trump can stay in the U.S. without being assassinated or put in jail one of the two at this point.
