As a young person I realized Idealism in many ways is death long term

 What is the problem with idealism?

It doesn't fit the real world we live in.

So, when you try to fit idealism into the real world often it destroys a person when they realize other people are not as idealistic as they are and more like animals in the end.

So, this is why I replaced idealism with pragmatism so I could survive in the real world.

Kindness and pragmatism I found I could live with long term. Idealism people will just use against you and destroy your life completely if you let them.

This is a useful truism:

Be Kind to everyone you meet but never completely trust them.

There is an old Tibetan statement about this:

"Be Kind to all beings because over time Friends become enemies and enemies become friends"
