People could read newspapers most places on earth at midnight during the Carrington event outside because the Aurora Borealis was so bright most places on earth. Telegraph operators turned off their batteries because radiation powered directly their telegraph machinery. Fires started in many telegraph offices worldwide where paper started to burn from the sparks off the telegraph sending and receiving equipment.
So, the point is this can and will happen again it's just unknown WHEN it will happen. So, one side of the earth facing the sun will get the full blast which I suppose could start wars possibly because the side hit might be more vulnerable because all it's computers won't work and the components or computers will all have to be replaced, missiles likely won't work, passenger planes might crash because their electric movable surface relays all might fry so you might lose 600,000 people or at least 1/2 of that many people because of the amount of people that tend to be in the air on the side of the planet hit by the Solar blast that would fry the electronics in a plane or electric car on earth. But, likely all computers magnetic memory not at least 10 feet underground will fry and be gone on earth when this happens (on the side of earth that has a direct hit from the sun Solar Flare at that time.
