When My wife demonstrated to me some of the signs of enlightenment

When you experience the death of a loved one this can sometimes cause enlightenment in some people.

Why?

I cannot fully explain why this is true I just have observed it happening in various ways.

My wife's mother passed away. This was very hard on her by the way. At first I thought our young daughter and I might lose her.

Then one day she didn't speak all day. This is very unlike her as she is one of the most social people I have ever met and very outgoing by nature and loves to talk to people wherever we travel around the world.

So, because it was in the afternoon and she hadn't said a word to me I got concerned and so I walked outside and asked her if she was all right.

Then she demonstrated a form of enlightenment in all her behaviors.

I asked her what was happening to her.

She described how she could see all the good and all the bad in the world all at once and felt completely overwhelmed by the experience.

I told her that that is one of the signs of enlightenment.

She told me that she didn't like it.

I told her that it didn't matter whether she liked it or not that that is what enlightenment is like.

She said I don't want to experience this.

I said, "You are describing what enlightenment is like where you see everything good and bad and it is overwhelming and you don't know what to do about it. But, that is the beginning of full enlightenment right there."

The reason most people aren't enlightened is that they aren't able to open up their senses to see EVERYTHING at once both good and bad. And because they don't see enough of the world they only have a very small piece of the world that they can make sense of and they cannot do much to help the world survive because of this or themselves.

She once again said to me: "But I don't like it."

I said, "YOU don't have to like it but you are describing a form of enlightenment when you tell me this."

She said, "But I don't like it."

I said, "That's okay."

And I could see saying this calmed her down some.

Since then she has helped more people in more ways than anyone else I have ever met in my life so far.

Enlightenment comes when we least expect it.
