182,682 covid cases per day now up 48% from a week ago here in the U.S.

New York had 45,000 new Omicron cases just yesterday so New York is quickly headed for a peak some time in January likely of Omicron cases.

Where I live in the SF Bay area the very first cases of Omicron were found this week in our area. So, we are far far behind New York in cases because of this. We likely won't see our peak here until late February or early March. But, the good news for New York is that they might peak by the end of January 2022.

From the things I have read we should peak as a country of Omicron cases somewhere between 250,000 and 2,500,000 cases per day (somewhere around there) between late February and March.

So, hopefully by April the peak will have subsided like it already has in South Africa. The biggest different variable here is that this is their summer and this is our winter. So, it could be much worse than South Africa what happens here in the Northern Hemisphere because of the timing of all this.
