The Chief justice of the Supreme Court realizes that their authority will erode by allowing the Texas Abortion Law. Why? Because the law of the land since the 1970s will be eroded by their ruling. It becomes and ENTIRELY political ruling therefore and is not unbiased like the court is supposed to be. The Supreme court then no longer represents the people in any real way and so becomes ridiculous.
A ridiculous court is not respected and this could cause further erosion of our whole political system with the people no longer respecting the Supreme Court as unbiased.

the Supreme Court risks losing its own authority if it allows the existence of a law like Texas’ near-total abortion ban, which attempts to circumvent the courts.
