I DVRed "Romancing the Stone(1984) on my Tivo and watched it tonight
It likely was my favorite of all the movies in the 1980s because it brought together the Zeigeist a lot of what people in my generation thought about a lot of things. It's hard to explain but I guess Michael Douglas' days at UCSB probably allowed this movie to actually happen. Also, his Dad Kirk Douglas lived in Montecito near UCSB too likely while Michael was going to UCSB there in Santa Barbara.
IT's a classic movie of the 1980s even though when I watch it now it seems a little hokey now but then again everything keeps changing and we were a little simpler then than now too in how we looked at things.
