It is hitting big Sur now instead of the Bay Area so much. It is still snowing in the Sierras pretty much too all along the Sierras and there is some rain also hitting from Chico all the way up into Canada too but it is mostly light rain and snow hitting sporadically everywhere.
There will be an ongoing series of storms hitting likely along with the atmospheric rivers and colder arctic air will drop the snow levels down to as low as 1300 feet.
So, if you want to get to the Sierras for snow play or skiing you need to do it today before the snow levels drop and the roads like I-80 and 50 over the Sierras close from too much snow. It is possible Interstate 5 could close between Dunsmuir and Ashland as well during snows this low too.
So, if you want to drive north today might be the last safe day to do this until next week some time like Monday or Tuesday if you are lucky. So, don't expect 1-80 to be open or I-5 north into Oregon and Washington after today for the next week or so.
