Just like the Library of Alexandria in Egypt was accidentally destroyed by Julius Caesar when he was fighting Cleopatra and Anthony in Egypt, past space ships of every size and shape likely were destroyed by exposure to the weather and storms, wars, crashes etc.
So, if we looked for evidence of them we might not even know what we are looking for, especially if past colonizers of earth used things like Stargates or doorways between planets, or flying saucers maybe now buried under millions of years of sediment under the sea or other places like mountain ranges or deserts all over the earth.
First, you would have to know exactly what you are looking for (like anthropologists or paleontologists do) and where to look. Without knowing what you are looking for or where to look how would you ever find anything?
Also, for example, what if Noah's ark was a spaceship bringing animals to earth from Maldek and Mars after Maldek was destroyed by nukes and pieces of Maldek (now the asteroid belt) blew off most of the atmosphere of mars so people there had to come to earth just to breathe fresh air and not live underground?
I have often wondered whether wolves or dogs and coyotes howling at the moon is because the Moon is actually the largest piece of Maldek dragged here through space from their home planet of Maldek? So, they are howling and remembering at a cellular level that this moon somehow is a piece of where they came from originally?
But, then because the moon has no atmosphere it is round from being hit by asteroids and comets and space debris of every kind from all directions for the last 65 million years since it was dragged here as the last piece of the Asteroid belt planet big enough to do anything real with?
