Actually I envisioned something like this when I first learned to program computers around 1966 when I was in college studying Computer operations, computer programming and computer science.
However, the only way I could see it work then or now would be if individuals owned their robots like they own houses and cars now. So, that these robots would go to work in place of them.
Otherwise big companies would just make most people starve like now if it didn't happen this way.
