Though I'm still losing weight on this diet since I got out of the hospital I'm still a little bit spacey on this diet even though I am definitely losing weight. I have lost about 15 pounds since January 4th when they first put me on Chicken broth, Jello, and fruit juices in the hospital. However, 4 or 5 days later I was really spacey from this diet (as you can imagine) and I discovered Core Power complete protein drink (which is also sold at Costco in California (possibly other states too). The original one was 26 grams of protein. However, my wife has now found one that has 42 grams of protein by the same company that they call the Core Power elite Strawberry and I think they might have this in Chocolate and Vanilla too. Well, I just had one this morning and it seems to be helping some along with oatmeal (to keep my bowels working) and so these are all staples to my new diet which is in preparation for a naval Hernia surgery which I have waited 3 years for with the best robotics hernia surgeon in the state of California.
I tried to get this operation 3 years ago by my cardiologist told me my heart wasn't strong enough to endure this operation then.
However, since then because of a defibrillator pacemaker and amiodarone my heart is doing much better now than before. I started by dealing with an irregular heartbeat which killed one of my uncles in his mid 70s but now years later they have things like defibrillator Pacemakers (I had one installed in 2020 in June) even though I found out that my doctor who put this in passed away this summer) which is very upsetting. I found this out while I was in the hospital for 3 days starting January 4th.
So, this no meat no cheese no milk no gluten diet is actually working in helping me lose weight. However, I'm not sure driving a car or working at a job (at least at my present age of 77) would work (at least for me) on this diet.
But, I have lost at least 15 pounds since January 4th and likely will lose another 15 pounds before my Surgery which likely will be sometime in February or after that at this point.
So, the mostly liquid diet is trying to survive until I have my surgery. The basis of my diet is likely this Core power protein drink 26 gram or 42 Gram protein drink and mashed potatoes and oatmeal at this point. I also have been able to eat Jello and bananas and apple juice and now some Greek Yoghurt too.
I have tried doing things like eating mashed potatoes with butter that I microwave but also I like to make a pancake of them, fry them on the stove in butter and then put maple syrup on them which gives me something to look forward to regarding eating food.
But, like I said I have lost 15 pounds since January 4th in the hospital and likely will lose another 15 pounds because of this rather austere diet.
However, like I said before (at least at this age I'm not trying to work at a job or drive a car much either).
And the other thing you likely need to know about this diet is I'm 6 foot 5 inches tall so I am strong like a football player always. However, losing weight this way I greatly prefer to Ozempic or Mounjaro because I had a bad reaction to both. I found it so chemically altered my brain that it made me too strange to feel safe in my body anymore. So, I stopped using these two weight loss drugs because I didn't feel they were psychologically safe for me to take.
So, this way of losing weight pre-operation is much better for me because even though I'm a little spacey so I don't like to drive a car much I still feel okay in my body and I feel psychologically sound unlike when I'm on Mounjaro or Ozempic.
So, weight loss drugs I don't feel are safe for me personally (with my personal individual physiology to take).
NOTE: The Core power protein drinks are lactose free because they have removed the lactose from them if you were wondering about this.
Many people use two of these drinks as meal replacements and then only have dinner to lose weight. However, I'm doing something different. I'm trying to survive to have this hernia operation which is why I'm on this diet. The good thing is me weighing less will also help this surgery be more successful.
