Californians Prepare for the Big One

Residents prepare for 'Big One' in Great California Shakeout

 At 10:21 AM this morning people all over California will "prepare" for the next Big Earthquake by practicing "Duck and Cover" skills by climbing under desks and tables and ducking and covering their most vulnerable parts. 


Since Scientists now expect the next really big earthquake to be above and 8.1 in magnitude which would be similar to the last big Chile quake residents of California are preparing as best they can. Even though scientists cannot predict exactly when it will happen from the present to about 50 years out, they now expect the whole San Andreas fault to move significantly when this occurs.


Magnitude 6.9 Quake Strikes Gulf of California

Even though there were no reported injuries yet, I think it is kind of ironic that within an hour or so of the earthquake exercise in California a 6.9 magnitude quake occurred in the Gulf of California under the ocean.
