Pragmatist

prag·ma·tism

- is a practical approach to problems and affairs (according to the Merriam-Webster.com dictionary)

I would add to this that a pragmatist would be someone who was more into practicality and functionality than anything else. In other words such a person likely would not be an idealist or would be acting as a pragmatist to apply his or her idealism in the real world as opposed to an idealistic world which doesn't exist or might not ever exist here in the physical world.

Though the grievances of the young (under 30) in the Arabic world are real (lack of jobs and above 20% unemployment most places, without leadership (which has mostly been eliminated in non-democratic governments there), how can these revolutions be successful without real pragmatic leaders to as safely as possible guide their people to democracy, jobs and human rights?

I suggest that they might not be successful until real pragmatic leaders are found or made through all the anger, sadness and violence presently happening in the Arabic world. So, likely until useful leaders towards democracy and more rights are found or made we may see a lot of unwanted mayhem and death in the Arabic or other nations hungering now for democracy, human rights and jobs to support themselves and their families.
