Chinese in Japan as tourists

My friend was telling me that while he was in Japan he realized that most tourists there that were foreigners there were Chinese. So, even though China has a lot of rhetoric against Japan historically, still they seem to be the number one tourists visiting Japan during the summer, even the hottest summer in 50 years for China, Japan and other Asian countries.
