Hyperloop: Completely self sustaining through solar power?

As I began to read more about hyperloop technology it began to dawn on me that "hyperloop" is a completely self sustaining technology because it is completely powered by solar energy. Elon Musk has also taken into consideration storing solar power in new ways to keep hyperloop running 24 hours a day even though cloudy days as well as nights. So, theoretically at least this is the most efficient transportation ever devised so far here on earth if it actually works when built.

Just like in many science fiction stories I could imagine something like this working for thousands of years with or without humans there to maintain it because of its self sustaining energy source.

However, in reality "Whatever can go wrong eventually will go wrong" is a more correct way to view all technology into the future. Without this pragmatic approach all technology eventually becomes useless. So, designing for eventual failure must be a part of all technologies.

For example,  some electrical infrastructure on the east coast of the United States dates back to the 1880s when it was first installed. Even though things have been updated to some degree along the way there are still components from the 1880s in place some places on the East Coast of the United States still there. Understanding this might be important as we move forward in regard to how we design things now for the future. So, properly designed "hyperloops" built now might be still useful 140 years into the future just like some electrical infrastructure in the U.S. already is almost 140 years old right now.
