I visited an old friend I hadn't seen in about 20 years because he lives so remote it wasn't practical today and two other friends drove up high on Mt. Shasta and we eventually found a high dirt road that took us over to Medicine lake on various very very remote roads.
However, as I drove into Mt. Shasta Subdivision about 10 miles from McCloud after dark I saw several houses now really well built with wells and people living there full time with solar arrays. When we dropped my friend off at his house on 2 1/2 acres he also had full solar array with his well water pumped by that as well as he TV and refrigerator etc. just from solar. So, though everyone now out there is "off the grid" they always were. But, solar is now affordable for many people to whom it wasn't in the 1980s when I lived out there very remote.
Also, Snow doesn't get to be 7 feet anymore out there so living there (because of climate change) is now feasible year around because at most they get 1 to 2 feet of snow at a time even at 4000 feet lately the last few years. And with even one neighbor with a plow on the front of their truck or vehicle the road is easily kept open out there even though it is still remote.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
