Weed High School Burned down in Northern California!

This is the text from a friend I just received:

"There is a terrible fire in Weed today. Wind is from the South. Lake Shastina is evacuated. Weed High School just burned down."

Interstate 5 is reportedly closed at Weed because Weed and the City of Mt. Shasta are both on Interstate 5 north and southbound lanes.

I worry the most for all the travelers on Interstate 5 that aren't adjusted to the Altitude in the smoke. I was going through this when I was there last week from the smoke from the Ft. Jones Fire to the north. I was having trouble breathing while adjusting to 3500 feet in altitude too. Luckily, there was only one really bad day with smoke like this and then the wind shifted to a different direction for me.

About 10 years ago my wife got smoke inhalation at 6500 feet in Lake Tahoe. I knew about this and told her not to climb stairs unloading our motor home stuff into the Swiss Chalet there upstairs. She wouldn't listen to me and spent the night in the hospital under observation. Smoke inhalation is really serious if people aren't used to the higher altitudes they are at especially if they live at sea level most of the time.

Later text news:
Weed High School and Elementary school gone, old mill gone, houses in old mill area gone. Lake Shastina okay so far.

This is what Weed High School looked like before it burned down today:
That's a picture of Angel Valley behind on Mt. Shasta. It's called angel Valley because the shape of the snow most  years looks like  an Angel wing.

Here is what that looks like some years:

One day later text: High school and elementary school damaged but not completely destroyed. Two Churches completely destroyed along with about 100 homes. Part of mill saved.
