Saudis confirm disdain for Shiites

The hatred of Saudis for Shiites like in Syria, Iraq and Iran is manifested in the funding of ISIS and the thousands of Sunni sons and daughters joining to fight the Shias because of the hundreds of thousands of Sunni deaths in Syria at the hands of Shiites.

Saudi Arabia helps in the fight against ISIS while there are those among the Saudis that are partly responsible for its existence and for radical Sunni Islam.
Tolerance for Saudi Arabia’s conflicted behavior is from its holding great wealth from petroleum.
As dependence on foreign oil wanes in view of nations pursuing economic sustainability based on renewable energy, tolerance for Saudi and other Arab nation transgressions is growing short. Alliances must be considered short-term and for convenience and necessity.
The news is that Saudi Arabia has issued a death sentence for a Shia leader. Muslim sects are opposed to one another and that conflict is manifest in the war in Iraq, Syria and most everywhere else in the Middle East. It is fundamentally about the absence of tolerance in the Islamic faith. While some might argue that tolerance is possible, the evidence demonstrates otherwise.
That is why the free world is said to be at war with Islam. Unless and until the faith amends its beliefs such that it can coexist peacefully in the world, the religion loses its status as such to become nothing more than a terroristic belief system bent on the destruction of humanity. For that, there will be no tolerance.
“Nimr Baqir al-Nimr was arrested in 2012 and ill-treated during his two-year detention, much of it spent in solitary confinement. He was denied surgery for bullet wounds suffered when he was arrested. He was charged with “disobeying the ruler”, “inciting sectarian strife”, and encouraging and leading demonstrations.”

The charges against him may have merit, to some extent. His treatment as a prisoner was inhumane. The government in Saudi Arabia is not democratically pluralistic and it does not implement the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
For Americans observing this from the outside, it is just more evidence of how vastly out of step Arab nations are with the free world. Posted here is a quote from a petition posted to demonstrate support for the accused. It is just more evidence that what the Saudis appear to be against is his call for democracy.
"Sheikh Nimr of Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to death after his arrest in July 2012 due to the fact that he supported the pro-democracy protests during the Arab Spring.
We can’t let Saudi Arabia get away with executing a man for supporting democracy. This petition has less than 3000 signatures at the moment and it needs a hell of a lot more. Please sign & signal boost this to stop an innocent man from being killed."

Religiously, the Saudi people want all Shiites dead in the world. However, politically this is tricky because ISIS which champions this belief too would wipe out all Sunni Governments in the Middle East. So, by the Saudi Government saying that they hate Shiites it allows ISIS to perceive the Saudi government as being partially "on their side" so they would be less likely to attack Saudi Arabia (at least for now) to overthrow the government there. You might find other Sunni Governments in the middle east speaking this kind of rhetoric too in order to allow their governments to survive a bit longer in the face of ISIS and now Ebola.
