Most of life is about the choices we make or don't make. Often we either aren't aware of the choices we have or we choose consciously not to choose because it is just too scary.
If you have ever wondered why some people's lives work out and some don't often it is as simple as critical thinking in your decision making. This isn't usually taught at a high school level unless it is a prep school for college. But, if I were to convey just how important critical thinking actually is, often it is life or death.
In Junior high and high school kids often make decisions on a whim and then they are maimed or dead because of it.
Until someone learns to make critical decisions by weighing all relevant facts in a useful way good decisions usually just aren't made. Also, you have to be aware of your actual choices to even begin to make a decision. And if parents never made good decisions because no one taught them critical thinking then their lives are a mess too.
So, often it is the kids trying to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps so to speak.
So, learning what choices you actually have is a start and then learning to weigh these choices is a good thing too.
Usually in life there never is enough information to actually make a perfect choice about anything. So you just have to wing it through life mostly because of this.
My father talked to me (who was valedictorian of his high school class) about making decisions. He said "You are going to be making decisions the rest of your life so just start making some and get used to it and don't worry so much about each and every decision because usually as you get more information about anything you can modify your decision as you get more information as time goes on in regard to most things in life. Don't put yourself down for any decision just keep making those decisions and keep moving forwards. Because if you freeze up often your life is over right then sometimes for good. It is like driving down a freeway, you have to decide to stay on the freeway or to get off. You can't do both at the same time without usually crashing or dying. So just keep making those decisions the best you can.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
