over 60% of Republicans are against legalizing Marijuana

However, over 60% of Democrats are for legalizing Marijuana. This is how great the divide between Republicans and Democrats is.

I'm an Independent and I have my own point of view. I'm not for the criminalization of Marijuana. However, I think that legalizing it isn't a good idea either. What legalizing does though is to save Mexican lives, thousands of them (maybe 50,000) from Gang wars. And also it saves lives of Americans near the Mexican Border being shot by Mexican Gangs competing over selling Marijuana.

So, it is a win for Mexicans that don't want their people machine gunned and it is a win for people living around the Mexican U.S. border so they don't get machine gunned by Kalashnikovs either.

However, it is a lose for the young people of American in states where Marijuana is legalized because if they start smoking their older brother's or sisters or parents Marijuana before they are 18 they will never physically or psychologically develop properly which is one of the problems of Marijuana when smoked or eaten by people too young.
