Belief is always a choice. This is important for everyone. There is truth and the search for truth and then there is what one can believe if they want to stay alive and not commit suicide directly or indirectly. In the end, if you don't choose to believe what will make life worthwhile so you can stay alive, then you won't be alive.
Truth (absolute truth) might not be achievable by anyone. Because of this absolute truth might not not only not be able to be found by anyone, the truth might just make you want to commit suicide right now and nothing else.
So, then survival is important. Sometimes, simple is better. For "What does it profit one to gain the whole world but to lose themselves?"
You can become the richest person on earth only to buy a Ferrari or prime woman or something (either of which might kill you one way or another.
But, you might go live in a cave somewhere with nothing and be completely happy the rest of your very long life.
What is the truth? A better question is what is going to make you happy while being survivable?
Even as a young man I realized it didn't matter how beautiful a woman was, if I didn't see her as survivable for me then what is the point of attaining her?
It is the same with everything in life. If it isn't survivable what is the point?
You might say is life survivable? It is pretty obvious that at some point all of us are going to die.
Whether what appears to be true is actually ultimately true or not is another question.
Because of this, I sort of adopted a philosophy when I was young of Eat, Drink and be Merry for tomorrow we die!
Which is sort of a viking response to life.
But, you adopt any philosophy you want to.
Just remember, living and dying and what you believe in is always a choice. If you trap yourself into one way of thinking or another you can change it at any time you choose.
If you choose to live you will if not you won't. It's your choice in the end what happens in your life completely.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
