Hawi reminds me a lot of Makawao on Maui. I immediately liked the place set like it is on Northern Hawaii. If you drive to the South and East I believe from there (seems like those directions) you start getting into more and more rain forest type of terrain so the rainfall must be pretty extreme like from Haiku to Hana on Maui there. We drove until the road ended at a really beautiful site with a trail going down at least 1000 or more feet vertically to a really beautiful beach and area. It made me want to hike down and visit that beach at some point even though the trail was slippery and steep as far as we went for a good view today.
Today was a really good day for me. I had acclimatized more or less to the new temperatures of this island and caught up on any missed sleep while preparing or flying over and getting adjusted to a new locality and buying food and stocking a kitchen and stuff like that. However, what I'm not used to is feeling cold early in the morning here in Hawaii. But, in the end it is January after all here on the islands. Beautiful beaches, great boogie boarding. Happy people in 80 degree Fahrenheit water with 80 degrees outside. Paradise!
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
