I was listening to Representative Ed Royce talking on CNN "Wolf" today. He was saying we must arm the Sunni Tribesmen and the Kurds so they can fight ISIS better.
However, this might be because they realize that the Baghdad Government is already lost to Iran.
So, arming the Kurds and Sunni Tribesmen against ISIS is also a way to begin to partition Iraq where the Kurds and Sunnis support the U.S. and the Shias are more aligned in Baghdad and south with Iran and Assad in Syria and Hezbollah.
This likely is a more realistic assessment of what is actually going on.
He also said that Sunni Tribesmen in Ramadi did not retreat to Baghdad but instead fought and died in Ramadi along with their families, many of which are dead now because the Baghdad Government would not allow Sunnis to have arms to defend Ramadi against ISIS. So, when the Shia Baghdad Soldiers retreated many Sunni tribesmen and all their families were killed by ISIS.
Another point he made was that there were at least 10 explosions in Ramadi by Suicide bombers by ISIS that were each as big as the explosion in Oklahama City in the 1990s that blew up the government building there.
