My experience of the Decades

The 1950s

For me, (ages 2 to 12) the 1950s were really boring. But, the truth of it wast the nation was breathing a sigh of relief that World war II was over and scared about Global Nuclear Holocaust taking it's place. So, the whole nation was in shock about what they had been through and what they were going through.

The 1960s

Were Explosive: It was like fireworks and bombs were going off every day and people were in shock again because this time it wasn't the Germans and the Japanese we were fighting it was ourselves sort of like the Civil War over again.

The 1970s

These were the transition years. The explosions had mostly gone off (except for the Viet Nam War ending badly and Nixon resigning and the Arab Oil Embargo which destroyed the U.S. Standard of living from then on. And this has only gotten worse as the price of oil has gone up over the years.

The 1980s

More Transition years but somehow these were different than the 1970s. We made more progress in many different ways without having to fight another war until Desert Storm in Kuwait with the first Bush.

The 1990s

We finally got our acts together and things actually started to work right for the first time since Kennedy was assassinated.

The 2000s

Everything went completely to hell in every way imaginable. But, somehow we are all still here.
(Most of us)

2010 on to 2020

Not sure yet what everything means. But, in the last 5 years things have financially gotten a lot better than they were before this at least for most people in the U.S. even though the Middle East has now caught fire at a level that it is possible no one will ever put that fire out with millions of refugees scattered now through out the middle east, Africa, Europe and throughout the world. And there are signs that there will be many more failed states around the world with no longer the will or the wealth to prevent this anymore. So, the era we are coming out of is not the era we are now going into(whatever that means).
