The Economic Toll of Terrorism

If you want to know what is happening to the Middle East and what happened to New York City after 9-11 this quote might interest you:

quote from page 15 of the July 15th 2015 Time Magazine: Top of page:

"The Tunisian resot city of Sousse is already suffering the economic impact of June 20 terrorist attack that killed over 30 tourists. travel agencies have slashed hotel and flight prices by half as tourists rethink their plans to visit Tunisia. Here three data ponts that shed light on how a city like Sousse, whose economy depends on touristm, can expect to recover from a security crisis like this:

34 months
How long it took
New York City hotel
occupancy rates to return
to pre 9-11 levels after the 2001
attack on the World Trade Center.

Madrid's hotels needed a year to recover
from it's 2004 train bombing, and London
bounced back 9 months after the 2008
attacks on public transport

8%
The reduction in foreign tourism income
in Egypt
in 2008 after the 2006 attack in the coastal
city of Dahab killed and injured tourists
from around the world

37% average discount offered
by the majority of Bali hotels
that slashed prices after bombings
in 200s. After attacks in 2005 Bali
ran a marketing campaign with the slogan:
"Our loss is your gain!"
It worked: today Bali attracts over
3 million foreign visitors a year: up from 1.39
million in 2005.

So, this is the problem of terrorist actions around the world.
Often they cause people who work for tourist attractions around the
world to starve for a while(up to several years at a time). This then can
cause local governments in some cases to collapse in some parts of the world.

We can see this all in action in places like Syria and Iraq and Libya and Yemen and
others right now.

And the problem with this is the ISIS movement and others know this and will try to
maximize the destruction of all governments wherever they go. Because terrorists always do better the less law enforcement is arrayed against them in any country.

And if you look closely at this the 50% poorest governments on earth will be or already are very vulnerable to this kind of thinking and actions.

So, it is quite possible that because of this you could see up to 50% of the poorest governments on earth as failed states by 2100 because of this and Global Climate change interfaced with overpopulation as the causes of the failed states around the globe.

Note: If a  mini-Ice Age starts around 2030 or 2040 this will greatly reduce the amount of food grown on earth because of frozen ground worldwide that cannot be tilled while frozen as well. So, this problem might be only made worse by this if it begins as well.  Since the last mini-Ice Age was 70 years this could be devastating to the world economy regarding keeping people fed as well(especially if the population continues to grow). So, food riots likely would become more common worldwide as a direct result of this.

For example, the French revolution was caused primarily by starvation when the Icelandic volcanoes made it much colder in France because of constant pyroclastic dust in the air and people began to starve and the Aristocracy didn't respond fast enough with statements like "Let them eat cake" when there was no flour to even make bread with. So, the entire aristocracy of France was Guillotined (that didn't escape to England or somewhere else first).
